My friends asked me what is facebook poke ?

                                         I have a few answers for you.. 

   1. The poke is a feature of Facebook whose sole purpose is to attract the attention of another user. The only thing that happens when you poke someone is that this person receives a poke alert on his or her home page.

As pokes attract the attention of a user, they can be used for various different things and thus have different meanings. You can, for instance, poke a friend just as a way of saying “Hello.”

   2.   A poke has no real meaning. It could mean anything from, "Hello, I'm still alive. Notice me." to "If I don't have my money in three hours, I'm going to sodomize your dog and sell your children to Cambodian sweatshops."

As far as Facebook's feeble-minded pokers go, it's probably one more passive-aggressive outlet for your friendly neighborhood profile stalkers to use.

3.Poke most commonly refers to the action of tapping and/or softly jabbing an object or person using a finger, stick, or similar object etc

4.someone likes you, or just simply wants to get your attention

What useful in poking ?

1.A “poke” is basically someone trying to get your attentionIt’s one of the meaningless features that are used just to annoy someone.

2.If you poke someone not in your network and they poke back. You can view their profile even if your not their friend!

3.A poke is when you allow someone to see your facebook page for 3 days, so they can know who you are and hopefully add you as a friend
